Wether Fell Circular
Approx 5.8 miles. This walk is a bit more challenging. It starts with a steep incline from Burtersett up onto the old roman road. The walk then proceeds around Wether Fell with some beautiful views over the dales. Then there is sharp descent back to Burtersett. A lovely 2-3 hour walk depending of level of fitness.
Semer Water via Marsett
Approx 8 miles. A challenging walk but worth the view. Steep incline towards Wether Fell and cross over the old roman road and drop down into Marsett. You will then pick up the Pennine journey path and walk past Semer Water. There is then a steep incline up to Countersett then back up to the Roman Road. The last part of the walk is down a lane back into Burtersett. (Approx 3 hours)
Pen-Y-Ghent
Smallest of the famous ‘3 peaks’ and stands at 694 meters and approx 6.5 miles. The walk starts at the Horton-in-Ribblesdale car park and has good clear signposted paths. The walk is challenging with some steep rocky sections.
Another attraction of Pen-y-ghent is the impressive Hull Pot (a large crater 20 meters deep). During periods of heavy rain a waterfall from a local stream can be seen cascading into the crater.
Aysgill Force

Yorkshire Three Peaks
The Yorkshire 3 Peaks (Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen-y-ghent) is the most famous single day walking challenge in the UK. The route is approximately 24 miles (38.6km) long and 1585m (5200ft) of ascent and the aim is to complete in 12 hours.
Many visitors attempt this walk as an organised group with a guide/leader and raise money for various charities. This a ‘challenging’ yet spectacular walk with breathtaking views. Whernside
Approximately 8.4 miles taking up to 4 hours depending on ability. Whernside is the highest of the three famous Yorkshire Three Peaks standing at 736m, with a total ascent of 525m. Starting out at one of the many roadside laybys at the junction of the B6255 and the B6479, with fantastic views of the Ribblehead Viaduct.
Just a short 20 minute drive away from Quarry Cottage.
The walk is a circular starting the Ribblehead Viaduct following the Three Peaks path for most of the route, the walk begins as a gentle uphill stroll, eventually becoming steeper as the peak nears. There are well maintained paths for almost the whole walk making underfoot more comfortable.
Once at the peak the views over the Lakeland Fells and the Yorkshire Dales are spectacular and well worth the effort.
Descending can be tricky as the path drops quite sharply in places eventually coming back out under the Ribblehead Viaduct.
Ingleborough
Ingleborough is one the famous Yorkshire peaks and stands at 723 meters and the walk is approx 11.25 miles. This walks starts at the roadside parking on the B6255 Ingleton to Hawes road near the Old Hill Inn. A long and challenging walk with good clear signposted path onto a large flat summit.
Hardraw Force circular
7.2 miles. Easy circular walk. Walk down the lane to cross the main road and pick up field paths across to Sedbusk. You will then continue past Simonstone Hall and drop down to Hardraw Force (Green Dragon Pub). From here you will pick up the Pennine Way back to Hawes then proceed back to Burtersett. Approx 2.5 hours.
